Melt and Pour is a ready-made soap base ideal for the craft market because it requires little specialist equipment.

Melt and Pour Soap Making Tips:

Fragrance: It is important to use skin-safe fragrances, (check the manufacturer before purchase). A general rule of thumb is approsimately 8g per 500g of soap.

Colourants: The range of colourants is vast, but it is important that you use those approved for use in soap. We don’t recommend using food colourants.

Glycerine: Hand-made soap can feel amazing due to its glycerine content. It can also be why your melt and pour soap can sweat in humid climates. Make sure that you keep them in a cool, dry place.

Moulds: Flexible moulds which can withstand higher temperatures is important. Bases start to melt at 120F / 48C. Pour directly into your mould once in a liquid format.

Safety: Use heat-safe tools and handle with care.  Designing your soap with children can be laods of fun. We recommend that adults are present at all times as a hot splash or drip can hurt!

Other Important Soap Making Tips:  Melt and Pour soap is quick to make; it hardens in several hours and does not need to cure. Fragrance oils do not cause acceleration, ricing or seizing. You can use vanilla colour stabiliser to prevent vanilla discoloration if desired.  In translucent varieties of melt and pour soap light is able to shine through, therefore if you want to add glitter and shimmery micas, these will easily shine through. You can make extremely clean, straight layers. Just make sure to have some 99% isopropyl alcohol nearby so the layers stick together. This is also good to use to create a smooth layer on the surface of any bar.
